Chapter History

The Mississauga and Area Chapter was established in 1985 by six women in an effort to address issues affecting Black women, their families and their community. The Chapter’s initial concern was the challenges faced by the youth. As the Chapter evolved most of its programs have been focused on youth and education. In fact, to date the Mississauga Chapter has awarded more than 220 scholarships since the inception of their scholarship program and supported over 14 community partners in meeting project requirements.
